Amanda Joyce (00:00)
Hello, hello.
Hello, welcome to another episode. Today’s topic is one that we’re really excited to share with you. We’ve put some time and effort into curating this list and really want to make sure that we provide a lot of value. So we are going to hop in on the world of contractor coaching. It’s exploding right now, and there’s so many options available out there that I know for a lot of folks it’s hard to even know where to get started. I mean, there’s $29 options for communities, there’s $2,000.
Monthly options for coaching programs. You can go all the way up to like a $20,000 plus mastermind program. And then there’s plenty of them that don’t even publish pricing. and of course, it doesn’t all come down to pricing, but it’s definitely gonna be a factor as you’re considering this. So, somehow, every one of these websites is gonna tell you that they’re gonna they’re gonna offer you a lot of the same things. They’re gonna make you more profitable, they’re gonna help you scale, they’re gonna reduce your stress level. But at the end of the day, you have to figure out which.
one’s gonna work best for you. So how does a contractor actually choose?
Devon Hayes (01:01)
Right, coach really depends less on who’s who’s the best out there. You know, you’ll get all kinds of answers from your favorite AI robot, but more on what problems are you trying to solve in your business? What stage is your company in right now? And then the biggest one that we know from our clients firsthand is how much implementation capacity do you have? So in today’s episode, we’re gonna talk through the insights we’ve
gathered from our clients who have worked with a number of these coaches and then some of them that we know about that maybe you haven’t heard of that could be a really great fit for your business if we talk through what problem they solve, which which size company they’re best for, and things that we personally like about them. And then we name a few that we’ve heard of but don’t have firsthand experience with. So join us and we hope you find today’s episode really helpful in your journey to maybe finding a contractor coach.
Amanda Joyce (01:53)
All right. So to get started, we want to make sure that we make it very clear that we are not contractor coaches. And this is this isn’t a ranking based upon like the fanciest website out there. Devon and I really dug in on this and spent a lot of time researching the contractor coaches that are really already
in our sphere of influence and then maybe a couple others that rose to the top as we were as we were doing all of our research.
Devon Hayes (02:17)
Yes. And we I mean, I was gonna say I mean we are we do we do coach contractors on marketing, but we are not your overall business, business coaches and we would certainly don’t have a program like that. But we work, I would say, I don’t know, Amanda, like it like I don’t know, sixty percent, maybe seventy percent of our clients are in
in BTA Breakthrough Academy. So we have actually a lot of like firsthand knowledge of that coach specifically. which I’m sure if you’ve started looking for a coach, you guys have already seen in your search results. But we’re gonna talk through some details that we we know are helpful to each business owner and things maybe you think about as you consider who’s who’s the best fit for you. but we in choosing a coach, Amanda and I like this is kind of near and dear to our hearts. We have tried agency like
agency
business coaches as well. So we understand kind of a lot of the same pain points and like ha you’re asking me to do what? How much time do I need to commit every single week? How many videos do I need to like there’s so much commitment, depending on your program on what what you as the owner have to do versus, you know, you just you want to hit the easy button, but that’s that’s
Amanda Joyce (03:29)
Yeah
Devon Hayes (03:30)
a tall order.
Amanda Joyce (03:32)
Exactly. And from the conversations we’ve had with our clients to our own experience, you know, a lot of people get excited about maybe the SOPs and things they’re gonna get access to, but to really let take any of these programs to the full tilt, you are gonna have to really dive in on libraries and all kinds of other information. and, you know, Devon uses this this reference a lot. It’s like going to the gym, you know, like we if you’re if you’re gonna it doesn’t matter if you got the gym membership if you’re not actually gonna do it. And we fell
To this. When we signed up for a mastermind group last year, we got a lot of value out of it. We made some great connections. I mean, the community itself was huge for us. But there was a whole library that really was untapped by the time we’d completed our full year there. And we went into it with the best of intentions, but we really probably should have blocked out a certain amount of time every week that we were both as leader, as owners, going to be committed to completing on our own. We were talking to one of our clients last week that said he wished he’d just had somebody on his team.
devote 40 hours a week for a few weeks and go through into the entire library, which could be a direction to go. But even with that, I think I feel like a lot of times if it’s if it’s an implementer, but ultimately a lot of the decisions they’re coaching you on in those libraries, the owner needs to be involved in that. So it’s another one that it’s not even that easy to hit the easy button and just send somebody else out to watch them for you. So it’s it’s just a it’s a bigger beast, but when you’re really ready to dive in, it can be transformational for your business.
Devon Hayes (04:54)
Exactly. And one of the things, Amanda, you touched on this. Like there was a whole library, right? There’s a once you, you know, you you pay that annual fee, you get signed in, here’s your access to this library with 10,000 videos and SOPs and items and what we thought we were signing up for, which is why the way we vetted out the contractor coaches we’re gonna talk about. Our pain points with our coaching program I feel are very similar in reading. We l we read reviews from
all over the web in nooks and crannies that I had never even heard of in curating this contractor coaching list and coaching program that we’re I swear we’re gonna get to. But just to say that as agency owners, we understand like it’s a program that gives you keys to a library, but
I think where where it failed for us is there was no accountability coach for us like each week to say, did you do this thing? Did you watch this video? How have you implemented it? Why doesn’t it make sense? Where do you need help? There was no one there doing that, and we were left to our own devices. So we showed up for the scheduled meetings and met a lot of great agency owners and the community was great. That’s where we should have thought about this. Like, do we want community and to ask like problem solve? Or were we ready to take that step to
actually
devote a lot of time to developing processes and systems and reading and what other agency owners have done. So, anyways, we feel your we feel your pain. And without further ado, let’s dive into this list. some of them are broad, Amanda mentioned in the in intro, some of these can be any type of contracting company. Some of these are very specific to either landscaping or junk removal or roofing. But some of them are
I think we have a pretty comprehensive list and in talking to our clients and getting some feedback, like a lot of them hadn’t heard of some of these. And I I so we’re excited to share this list with you. So without further ado, let’s dive in.
Amanda Joyce (06:43)
That
yes. Okay. Of course, it totally makes sense for us to start with BTA or Breakthrough Academy. this, like Devon said earlier, a lot of our clients are in BTA, which makes us love them that much more. We always say that we love a really highly educated business owner that knows their numbers when they come into us to start talking to us about about marketing and
Th that’s what BTA does.
Devon Hayes (07:09)
Yep, they’re they’re great for any trade. they have different program levels based on you know where you’re at with your business, if you’re at that 500 to a million or two million to whatever, you know, their their website’s very clear. I’m sure you guys have seen them. Ton of research there. but as Amanda said, I mean, so when you say who are they best for, there I think this is one of those programs where you really need to be ready to spend time.
On your business at a minimum, probably like five hours a week. but as some of our clients have said, like especially in the beginning, like your first year with BTA, you literally could probably spend 40 hours just working on each piece of your business. they have, I think, I and I I believe now they’ve restructured it and there’s different levels, but
We know a lot of our current clients, they have a weekly call. You have one that’s one-on-one and then one that’s a group discussion. but there’s like enough time in between to work on the things that you want to implement. So that structure I I know for us, we would have like really benefited from a weekly kind of accountability call, like in the bigger group where you got peer pressure, but also with an accountability coach.
and as Amanda said, like the we love we love BTA members because they understand their numbers and they understand marketing more than someone who maybe hasn’t had a little bit of a background and they help you understand, and this of course is near and dear to us, but your ROI on all things, but especially like for us on your marketing spend. So you can see we are providing value, like that spend that you have with us, it is going somewhere. So
But it’s not just for marketing. I mean these guys they cover everything under the hot red sun, operational, things you need to do operationally, the understanding your numbers, tons of spreadsheets. I mean it goes on and on.
Amanda Joyce (08:51)
You name it. It’s all in there.
And like like you were saying, one of our clients last week was telling us he felt like in the first year, just in the library alone, outside of those meetings, he could have spent 40 hours a week watching the content. And he said, and it’s all good. He’d he’s been in other groups. Theirs is not content for the sake of content. It’s not fluff. It’s like really truly meaty. So this is a great one if you are whatever trade you’re in, if you’re really, if you’re really looking for that accountability and a really, really
strong community that and you’re gonna be surrounded by extremely smart business owners that are all like really interested in helping one another. It’s so funny how often we’ll be on a call with one of our clients that’s in BTA and we mention another client they’re like, yeah, I know Sean or I know Reuben. It’s like it’s
Devon Hayes (09:35)
Yeah.
Amanda Joyce (09:35)
it’s a really it’s a really cool community. And they do at least two amazing retreats every year that Devon and I are always like, how do we get invited on that one?
Devon Hayes (09:43)
I know, I’m like all of their videos that they do afterwards.
They look so good. They look like I don’t know, the vet yeah. People get so much out of them. They have the best keynote speakers. I don’t know, it’s great. So BTA, I’ve got some cliff notes here. They’re great for and one of the reviews I loved, we pulled out and it said, if you’re looking to like sit back and have someone fix your business for you, BTA is not for you. You actually have to do the work, but
Some problems they solve is if you’ve outgrown your systems, you’re making money, but it’s not stable or secure. your team depends on the owner too much. Mm-hmm. That’s a pretty common one. hiring good people seems impossible and you feel organized until chaos hits, and then you’re like, I’m too busy. What do we do? and then I like this one too. They
you’re you’re missing your family. You don’t you don’t have time for them because you’re constantly working and you can’t seem to like break free of those chains. So
And maybe you don’t have a lot of clarity on your numbers and and where you’re headed and where you’re going. So this is those are all things that BTA helps you solve for. And I think that they’ve been around for over 10 years now. And my husband’s company was part of BTA, which is kind of how I and this was when they were first starting out, and they only had like 200 contractors, and I think they are probably I know they’re well over, I think they might be close to a thousand now.
starting at like nine ninety nine a month and then it goes up from there. But outside of that, we we start with BTA because as we go through our list, we notice that some of these other offshoots of the contractor coaching programs, these guys originally started in BTA. So they became so successful with their own business within a trade, whether it was, you know, junk removal or you know, custom builds or roofing.
That they then started their own coaching programs, and those programs have become successful. So these, so I really do think like BTA as a foundation is huge. And no, this is not a paid sponsorship, but they’re just fantastic. So with that, we’ll go. You’re gonna notice kind of we’ll we’ll thread the needle for you on that one, on all of these guys that kind of maybe got their start with the solid foundation that BTA provides. So, with that, the next one we have on our list.
Amanda Joyce (11:51)
is Lean Scaper, founded by Mark Bradley.
this this is an accelerator program and they also offer software that supports everything the system they’re helping you build. So this is a another really exciting one. Obviously, the industries in the title, these guys focus specifically on the landscape niche. So if that’s not your area, this you might want to fast forward through this part, but there’s still you know tons of value here and what they’re offering. There’s some through lines you’re gonna hear through every one of the programs that we’re gonna talk about today.
Devon Hayes (12:23)
Yeah, and this what I liked about this, they have the accelerator program, which is kind of I think like their baseline sort of coaching program, but then everything that they do inside of that program steers you toward the other part, which is their AI kind of implementation solution. So this is if I was a landscaper and I had this this problem of like feeling
Like I’m the owner, I’m the bottleneck, and everything has to grow through me. and it’s always capped by whatever I have the capacity to do. I feel like this is I would just dive in head first, mostly because the accelerator program is gonna help you understand your numbers, get your get your house in order, but then it it gears you towards the leanscaper operating system, which is the actual implementation of everything you’re being taught. So
I I have to tell you, I’m like, I wish they had that for an agency. Can someone
Amanda Joyce (13:17)
Right? Can someone
get that spun up for us already? I know I love
Devon Hayes (13:20)
Mm-hmm.
Amanda Joyce (13:21)
so much of the content on their site and and the reviews we were reading. It is so technology forward. But I
I mean, in today’s day and age, if you are trying to stop being the bottleneck as the owner, it’s it comes down to the right technology and being able to automate some of these things and empower your team. so I it’s awesome. And then I one of the things that really struck me when I was watching a bunch of their testimonial videos, it was a lot of folks that used the term chaos prior to coming into this and how they were just like playing whack-a-mole and were just one step ahead of something breaking at all times, and that they like finally broke through.
After joining this company. There was a woman that’s, you know, her dad had owned the company previously, and for 20 years she watched him struggle, and then she stepped in and started using this, and she was like, finally, we’re like making the progress we couldn’t make. So it’s really cool to hear those like real life stories of people that are are taking this and like implementing it into their businesses.
Devon Hayes (14:12)
And it ties in, it’s their own kind of proprietary like AI platform, but very specifically for landscapers. And so I I like that it’s introducing like this technology. We hear AI every single day. And as business owners, all of us are like, am I doing enough? Am I missing something? Like, how do I use AI? I don’t want to fall behind. I want to, you know, I need to use this. at the same time, you’re trying to manage your business and you’re like drowning in outcomes that you can’t control.
And that’s where Leanscaper comes in, like their AI, to help you run, you know, I don’t know, your practical day-to-day so you s that the company stops depending on the owner being everywhere and being all things to all people at the same time. So which is impossible to do. So anyway, it’s landscapers, if you haven’t checked this out, I definitely would. I like that when you first look at it, it
it took me a minute to digest what it was and understand that there’s actually two parts to it. There’s the coaching program itself, the accelerator program, and then there’s the actual like leanscaper AI software that that helps you, you know, run your landscaping business. So, and then not to mention my who I think is just brilliant, Benji Carlson is over there. He was a former BTA guy. He you all might know and love him from Contractor Evolution, their podcast.
which they actually now have a new LeanScaper podcast too that Benji runs, but lots of really good info and I still listen to it because it I mean it does I it yes landscaping, but it really a lot of the content runs through to any kind of contracting business. So LeanScaper, check them out. The Accelerator program is the coaching program on that side of things, and it’s run by a bunch of really brilliant people. So yes.
Amanda Joyce (15:52)
Awesome.
Okay, so the next one on our list is HiSpire. this is a really, really exciting one. We’re we’re excited to talk about this. the co-founders of this one are Paul Atherton and Barrett Johnston, who both came from BTA, as well as Jordan Milne and Dave Stevens.
Devon Hayes (16:09)
And it is, yeah, so this one is interesting too. So these guys are just super sharp, very just highest business acumen, like brilliant idea here. So they have coaching and this is for construction companies specifically, is who is who they market to. clients that we’ve had that have been in HighSpire, they’ve been like luxury custom builders. So
What’s interesting about HighSpire is that they have both a coaching program, but they also have like a investment kind of an investment group. So this is for I think part one, you go into coaching, but that that part two, that capital investment group, is or
is huge because it’s for those owners where you’ve gotten to, you know, fifteen million, twenty million and now you’re looking at, all right, well, I have my systems, I have my processes, like what’s next? What do I want to get into next? and it’s kind of interesting that you can be with these super smart people, get into like get in with different developers to get in on the ground floor as an investor with these large, you know, like luxury high rise builds, for example. So
This one is not for if you’re just like, you know, doing $500,000 a year and you’re a construction company. This one I would say you want to be a bit more established. I don’t know, Amanda. I mean I I’m they don’t specifically say like, minimum you need to be doing two million dollars in revenue. But
I would say I would s I would say this is probably more for if you’re a bit more established and not in your first like three years of business. I would say post three years business. and what we found like minimum monthly investment is it’s it starts at two thousand a month and then there’s and then it goes up from there, I’m sure.
Amanda Joyce (17:51)
It goes up from there.
Devon Hayes (17:52)
Yep.
Amanda Joyce (17:53)
Yeah,
and to your point too, about like it’s definitely not for people that are too early on, because for you to get all of the benefit out of this out of being in this room with these folks, you you need to be at a point that you’re ready to really start leaning into the capital investment side of things as well. I, you know, when we were reviewing stuff, one of the things that really stuck out to me, they were really talking about how the things that they kept highlighting when I was we were watching different videos and seeing the the leadership talking through things they were talking about. Like they they help companies become self-managed, but I think a lot
Lot of folks are already there or they’re this close when they step in. and then they do have a big component that they like to focus on, not only helping your company be successful, but helping your staff members feel like they’re part of that success. And then finally stepping you into a position where you’re built building wealth through real estate development. So I mean, if that sounds appealing to you, if you feel like you’re at that point in your business, I mean this is a really unique one out of every program we researched that made this list, and even the ones that didn’t make the list, th these are the only folks that are offered.
offering this angle. So it’s pretty unique and it’s pretty exciting.
Devon Hayes (18:52)
It is. And it’s what I also find very impressive about them is that it’s not it’s not gimmicky and that it’s like a pre-packaged system that we know works for every construction company. It’s actually taking the time to figure out where an owner is in their understanding to help you improve your financial acumen, your leadership, maybe your company culture.
Project management, operations, marketing, sales, and then above like above all strategic planning. So I like that it is very customized for where you’re at in your journey with your business. and I have to say, like these are this leadership team and and the folks that, you know, I’d kind of keep pace on LinkedIn and see who they hire.
top class, like just really smart people in the room. And so if I if I had a construction company that was making a bunch of money, I for sure would would have them take my money and and go start to learn everything I can from this group because they it’s a very impressive group of people. and I yeah, I’d I I don’t know what else to say about that other than Yeah, yeah, definitely. So
Amanda Joyce (19:56)
Yeah, we can’t say enough great things about Yeah.
Devon Hayes (20:00)
check them out, High Spire. in our episode notes, we’ll have links to where you can find all of these. a lot of them are kind of early on. Well, not a lot of them. There’s a couple of these companies that we’re gonna mention that are early on in their in their coaching programs and so they’re not
as all over the place is some of the like, you know, I I feel like we see I love my BTA, but I s I see them everywhere and I don’t see a lot of these other folks everywhere until you unless you know about them. It’s one of those things that you’ll start to see them after you hear the name. So I hope everyone listening to this starts to see some of these names a lot more frequently ’cause we’re we’re proud of our list here. We we did we spent a lot of time digging in on a ton of coaches. So anyways, all right, let’s go on. Let’s go to the next one.
Amanda Joyce (20:43)
Okay, next one is Bolt Accelerator, founded by Barry Neal. So this is another this is This one is niched down to the junk removal space. So if you’re in junk removal, this is definitely a really great opportunity if you want to learn from someone who has created and scaled an extremely successful business. it’s 505 Junk.
is is
Devon Hayes (21:05)
Yeah.
Amanda Joyce (21:05)
where Barry cut his teeth and learned how to like how to just kill it in this market. And we spoke to him I a little over a year ago, I think, and he was talking to us about h about 505 junk, but then we were asking him about about his accelerator program. And he just happened into it. He had been in BTA, he knew a lot of people and people were seeing how much success he was having. And they kept coming to him and asking him to to give him an hour here or an hour there to like coach them up on what they how they could improve their businesses. And he realized there was a space and a need
for this specifically in the junk removal industry.
Devon Hayes (21:38)
And I what I love about Bolt Accelerator is that it is like really reasonable. I think Barry knows he knows his junk removal guys very well. and he’s got options for kind of a self guided tour where that starts at like four hundred and ninety seven a month and that’s you’re DIYing it. Maybe you don’t have enough to get into the next tier where you have a bit of coaching and a bit of the program. so you can kind of DIY it for a bit if you’re just getting out the door and I
if I had a junk removal company and I was because as we know the trades are huge right now. So like junk removal. Yeah, let me start a junk removal company. I’m nineteen years old, what am I gonna do? But I don’t have the money or the the margins yet to to invest in a coach. Like learning from Barry is probably the n the very next best thing. Like taking what he’s provided for education for you and probably templates and SOPs and sign me up, you know. I think that’s it’s
So you don’t have to be a huge business to sign up and you would be, you know, learning from the best. And again, as Amanda said, Barry is he was a a BTA guy for a long time too. So he’s got that strong foundation and it’s kind of the through line here is these guys they really understand business and I think really help solve problems and understand the problems of you know, their peers in in junk removal.
Amanda Joyce (22:54)
Absolutely. And to your point too, about pricing, like the entry level is four ninety-seven. And then even to get into the acceler accelerator program is fifteen hundred a month, which for you know, compared to some of these other programs that we’ve compared, I mean that’s that’s honestly reasonable pretty reasonably priced for the highly, highly niched down detail you’re gonna get to help you really take your business to the next level.
Devon Hayes (23:16)
Yeah, definitely. So Bolt Accelerator. again, we’ll have links in in the show notes if you haven’t heard of him. all right, keeping on our on our trend of being niche specific, we The Roofing Academy founded by Randy Brothers. he is he also former BTA member and he started the Roofing Academy. I gosh, I think it was like it’s gotta be over five years now.
And what we love about the Roofing Academy is that this really he speaks to all audiences. He’s got materials, systems, processes, implementation, leadership, hiring. my gosh, I know hiring and ops are a huge one. Production, how to run a streamlined production department.
All of that you can find at the Roofing Academy and pricing for them, it starts at $397 a month. And that’s that’s when you’re kind of in your build mode and you’re starting to you might only be at, you know, five hundred thousand dollars a year and you’re just starting to really understand the business side, not just the you know, the actual roofing itself. So
This is good for, I guess you can start at five hundred thousand, but it goes he has systems that go all the way up through, you know, if you’re at eight and you’re like, how do I get to fifteen or how do I get to ten, whatever it might be? the Roofing Academy has specialized paths for each of those or I guess I would say companies that are kind of depending on your revenue range, they’ve got something specific that speaks to you and your pain points and maybe where you’re at with with
Your
business.
Amanda Joyce (24:47)
Yeah. And we personally know a number of the folks over there and Randy brings in the smartest people in the industry to to coach. So you are in such good hands if you decide that that’s the direction you want to go with your with your coaching.
Devon Hayes (24:59)
And he I mean, I I know Randy personally and he is he really is one of the most generous people and he really does just want to see see you flourish and see you grow. Like he really gives back in everything he does. So I can speak to his character that way. Like he really does, he really cares about your business. He wants to listen and he the people, the partnerships, and
his recommendations it he works with so many roofers across the country that he really know he like save yourself the dumb tax. He he knows and his systems have been developed different iterations based off of what he has seen work with his huge data set. So if I, you know, as a roofer
you can save yourself a lot of time and money if you’re if you’re ready to start kind of putting in the work. Like as we said at the beginning, with any of these, you they you will only get out what you put in. Just like with AI, if you put in a crappy prompt, then you’re gonna get crappy output. It’s it’s the same idea here. But I think niching down is pretty brilliant. And I will say going back to BTA, they do I know that they have niche specific groups. So that you’re constantly working with someone who’s like a roofing coach or a landscaping coach or
A coach for electricians, like it it is I think they do have those niche down. I think they have the larger revenue size, but then you have your individual trade group, I think, too.
Amanda Joyce (26:18)
Okay, so moving on to the next one. This one is ContractorCoachPRO it was founded by Nathan
Tebodeau and Jim Johnson. they offer coaching and it’s a it’s kind of a BTA sort sort of program.
Devon Hayes (26:31)
Yeah, and this one, like full disclosure, so we don’t have any clients that are we don’t have ContractorCoachPRO clients. We talked to our c our clients and got their insights. We interviewed a lot of people and then we of course spent a lot of time on Google and inside of three different chat bots trying to see who it would recommend. And that was a name that came up and some of the interesting things I think that
popped up about Jim Johnson and ContractorCoachPRO was yes, it’s about your business, but it was also about community and personal connection. And it was about your own leadership skills as as the business owner. So that was interesting that that was kind of the summary that we got when we’re pulling
We watched lots of hours of YouTube in preparing for this and kind of shortening our list. And so that was kind of cool. So depending on and I th I think you can find that probably in all of these. That’s huge. I think that was, as Amanda and I said at the beginning of this episode, finding community with other like-minded agency owners was huge. But some I I just like that that was the sentiment out of all of the reviews, all the videos we watched, all the transcripts we then
summarized and we’re like, what’s the sentiment here? it’s kind of cool for them to be known for like that personal connection. So so that’s a distinguisher, but just full disclosure, like we don’t have any active clients in the program. So we wish we could speak a little bit more to that. But he did pop up and is reputable and definitely is it’s a great option if you’re looking to install systems, improve your hiring.
Leadership of course, strengthening your sales, pricing. Pricing is a big one. all kinds of things, your CRM processes, tracking performance, all the things that we know as business owners we should be doing.
Amanda Joyce (28:18)
Yes, exactly. And if you’re listening or watching and you have experience, we’d love to hear from you. Let us know if you have a take on this program. because you know, like Devon said, he they kept coming, they kept rising to the top in all of our research. So we we definitely felt like we had to give them some some lip service today in this list.
Devon Hayes (28:34)
Yes,
yes. So shout out to them and all right on to the next one. so this this one is like n I mean maybe maybe everyone else knows about knows about the wealthy contractor and within the wealthy contractor they have it’s called the Success Society.
so The Success Society is it’s a group for
contractors that are doing at least at least 10 million or above. 10 million is probably the low end. So this is not for entry level coaching. This is you know, your kind of what’s the next step? that’s where the success society by the wealthy contractor comes into play.
Amanda Joyce (29:15)
Yes. And this is one that we have. We have clients that are in it. One of our clients was we were talking to him the other day because he does has done BTA, is still in BTA and is in this program. And he’s he’s getting different value from both. It’s not like he’s picking one over the other. but this this is one that they’re really diving in on while they’re trying to
puts fine tune their sales process and things like that and he feels like he’s already getting a ton of success out of it since just joining it a couple of months ago.
Devon Hayes (29:42)
Yep. And these I mean this is I mean this is pretty pricey. there is a setup fee and then you have to pay for and and there’s two tiers of it. I think there’s another one called that there’s like a freedom membership and then there’s the Success Society. And but either of those, they start at about twenty thousand dollars and I think you’ve got a prepay for the year in advance. but what
The Wealthy Contractors Success Society does as a peer group is it’s a coaching environment for more mature, larger contracting companies. So these are this is for you if you already have your basic operational foundations in place. probably a strong sales program. and you know, you’ve got your CRM fine-tuned, you’ve got your hiring down, you’ve got your SOPs all figured out, I would say then this would be a good fit for you.
And not that you’ve got it perfected because this group you’re gonna learn from each other through the peer coaching, but it it’s for bigger, larger strategies and kind of I think more forward thinking on, all right, well what’s next? We’re at this level, we’re I’m at 10, 15, maybe 20 million. What’s what’s after this? Like where am I going? So I think that’s where this this group would be kind of speaking your language and and helping guide you on, you know, what happens.
What happens next? What happens once you’ve kind of gotten that operational efficiency and you’re able to golf four days a week and you’re, you know, trying to figure out what to do with your time?
Amanda Joyce (31:04)
Sounds good to me.
Devon Hayes (31:05)
I know I’m like
sign me up.
Amanda Joyce (31:07)
Okay, let’s see here. Our la the last one on our list today is the four-level coach. this one is founded by Randy Stanbury, which we actually had the pleasure of having Randy on. I I wish I I don’t remember what episode number it was, but he has joined us here on the Trade Secret podcast before. So
This is another one that is not niched down. So it’s for you. It can be if you’re listening today and you’re you’re a contractor, this could be a good one for you. their pricing starts at $14.50 a month. and
The program’s in the title. that it’s four levels of progressive coaching and growth based upon where you are in your the journey of your company. So this one’s pretty cool that it can be applied, you know, really whether you’re a new startup or maybe you’re a little bit more mature. there’s a spot within the program that you that they can find that you’re gonna fit in that you can, you know, continue to evolve through under their coaching.
Devon Hayes (32:01)
Yep. And I I mean we loved Randy. Even when we talked to him offline before the podcast, he was giving us some nuggets that we were we applied to our own business and and we’re we’re an agency, not contractors. So we know Rand Randy was great. Something else that I really loved about them as we were going through all these sites, I I’m a sucker for a pricing matrix. He was just really it’s really transparent. It’s like this is what you get here, here, and here.
And then you kind of choose your own adventure. Obviously, depending on what you’re ready for and where you’re at with your business. But I really do I’m a sucker for a matrix because sometimes what I wish I would have known about our agency coach was that we were not going to get any one-on-one coaching after our introductory meeting. Everything was based on a group, unless we wanted to pay extra for that time with a coach who to be
Frank, he I don’t think he could relate to where we were at with our agency because he had built things so much bigger. so, anyways, had I seen like a matrix, I would have been able to say, actually we only get the community, you know, unless we want to pay more for a weekly coaching session or even a monthly coaching session. So
I am a sucker for transparency and someone laying out exactly what you get. So especially because there are a lot of contractor coaches and in our research, ChatGPT was pulling out people that I was like, really? I’ve never heard of this people. I go to look them up and see what their program is like and all they do is public speaking and it’s like available for media opportunities and buy my book, but they weren’t actual, they weren’t actual coaches.
Amanda Joyce (33:36)
Yeah. So yes.
Devon Hayes (33:36)
So buyer beware on that.
Amanda Joyce (33:38)
Yeah. If you’re doing your own research, definitely it’s great to lean on AI, but go back to our old school friend Google and rate and do a little bit more vetting.
Yeah, we were both shocked by that. And one of the other things, I was going back and looking at the transcript of our podcast with Randy, and I loved one of the things he like a through line he kept sharing with us that was straight out of their program was talking about like how often contractors are like so focused on just driving revenue. But if you’re not profitable, you’re just making more chaos for yourself and your team. And we as business owners can relate to that too. You know, you have to make sure that you’re you’re focused where the profits are, and that’s one of the really big
things they help they help people cal like slow down and step back and look at their numbers and figure that out so that you’re not just growing to create more jobs and more stress without actu actually feeling the the the benefit of the the added revenue.
Devon Hayes (34:30)
Yes,
Lord knows we can we can empathize with that one. So that was again, that was four level coach and links in the show notes. and and then in our research we had some we had well we have one more honorable mention. We have Tom Reber with the contractor fight. what I what I liked about him and honorable mention, so we won’t we we won’t dive into a ton on him is I do like his podcast.
I do like his YouTube channel because he actually was talking. He I found a couple where he’s talking with a business owner, asking these questions and immediately identifying problems right there just by asking, well, what’s your overhead? And he’s like, Well, for a company that size, you’re wildly underpaying yourself if you’re including your own, you know, like it was it was so good. So I I would I would check him out, check out the YouTube channel for sure, because that was I thought that was really good. and what I also liked about that one.
Well, I listen to his podcast all the time, but also, he spoke about transforming your mindset. And that is I I think if you’re going down the path of looking for a coach, your mindset is already starting you you kind of know I need to do this, but really shifting it from I don’t know, like maybe you feel selfish paying yourself a salary, or maybe you’re not pricing high enough because you don’t see your own value.
It would be interesting to work with a coach that can pinpoint as a leader, like where you probably need some support and need to like shift your own mindset in those aspects. So anyway, that was the contractor fight, Tom Rever. and he’s actually out of Colorado Springs here. So, and then there was other people.
Amanda Joyce (36:00)
Just down south.
Devon Hayes (36:01)
I one-lined a whole bunch of other people that we were gonna put on the honorable mention list, so we’re not gonna go there. And then sales coaches. We didn’t even start the tip of the iceberg with sales coaches.
Amanda Joyce (36:10)
Yeah, so that’s one we might dive in on on an entirely different episode and real and really you know, share more of those if you guys find found this interesting. obviously Ryan Groth is one that that that pops out. and that’s another one we’d love to dive in on a little bit more, but we were in the in the spirit of not making this a two hour long podcast and and making sure that we we were focusing specifically on coaching.
This this list is is where we arrived. So we hope you guys found this really informative. Who did we miss? Who, if you were making this list, how would yours
Devon Hayes (36:40)
Yeah.
Amanda Joyce (36:41)
differ? if you have real-world first-hand experience with any of these, we would love to hear from you. you know, we’re constantly we kind of keep our known list of these that we like to keep track of just because we know that they help our clients. But we’d love to hear from you guys.
Devon Hayes (36:55)
Definitely want to hear who we miss, definitely want to hear firsthand feedback. and then the other thing that I I I think you guys let us know, but in doing all this research, Amanda and I, we keep this list of like known marketing agencies and we have like good guys and bad guys. And that’s based off of what we receive when a client comes to us and they had been with an agency. So we have a whole list of like, my gosh, these guys do awesome websites. They actually did really awesome work.
For one reason or another, they they came to us or found us, or we’ve heard about it through the grapevine. And I mean, we we’ve been no stranger about talking about some of the bad guys on here, but I think I think we’re gonna do that episode. What do you guys think? Do you wanna do wanna know the good ones, the bad ones? And of course we’re gonna say, you know, we’re great, but we can we can be humble and definitely we know the there’s room for everybody to eat, and there’s so many other good agencies out there. So there’s also some agencies we would tell you to get away from.
Amanda Joyce (37:48)
But that’s for another episode. So thank you so much. If you got all the way to the end of this, we so appreciate you. Thank you for your support and thank you for listening. And please engage and let us know. Let us know your thoughts.
